My Thoughts of CARD 101

My Thoughts

I really enjoyed CARD 101. I think that the entire class taught me how to write in a different way. Now, at first this was a bit difficult coming straight from the basic highschool writing. However, I feel as I asjusted enough to become a successful writer in this class. I think the promts that were given were challenging enough but also attainable. Dr. Kyburz always gave helpful information about the writings we did and I think the samples that were given were also super helpful.
We started off the year doing a microtheme. When it was first introduced I'm not going to lie I was very confused. Dr. Kyrburz kept reminding the class, "This is one of the most challenging writings you'll have to do in this class." or "Microthemes are difficult for many students." I was confused and didn't think that a one page paper was going to be challenging. But, to my surprise is was. It was hard to come up with a question that was interesting enough I could talk about it but also not too complicated that it'd need more than one page. I think the hardest part about the microtheme assignment was not being able to answer the question we were asking. I say answer as in fixing the problem. We were meant to write the why of people doing what they do and then just coming to terms that we will most likely continue these things and theres really nothing to do about but just become aware of it.
The documentary project was also a very interesting project. It was fun to analyze and then summarize documentaries. I think the documentary that I chose was especially interesting because I learned about cannibilism and the whole story just was a bit odd. But, it was interesting to learn others cultures and see the ties that Tobias, the main character, had with the tribes he lived with. I also had to challenge myself and really break down a scene and descibe the rhetorical perspective of it. I think this project was fun and it was also fun to watch the trailers of the other students' documentary projects.
