How I Feel About My Rational Argument

My Rational Argument

I'm asking the question, "Why are there such differences between men's and women's lacrosse gear?" This is a very prevalent question as women's lacrosse is expanding like crazy. My question goes a bit deeper than the surface and I did research from the beginning of lacrosse and how it was colonized. The root of the issue is more systematic and not just about the sports being contact sports or not. I was able to trace back to when Native Americans were first playing. Then the colonizers came in and decided to make a game patriarchal. They wanted the women's game to be more feminine, which meant no contact and they also didn't want to make the women wear gear in fear that they wouldn't look feminine anymore. They made the women wear goggles, mouth guards and skirts, Originally they wore gloves too but times have changed and we don't wear gloves anymore. Some people don't even wear goggles.
My feelings about my writing are strong, I'm very passionate about the sport I play however I do believe that the reason women are meant to wear the protection they were is because of men. I'm not here to solve the problems of the protection. I'm here to figure out the why behind this. Why did women get forced into playing a sport that's so different than the men's game? I think that I've almost solved the why. But, after figuring out what happened there's really nothing I can do. I can sit back and enjoy the sport that I love.
I made a point in my argument saying how there is an effect called the "Gladiator Effect" and how girls tend to play more aggressively against people who are wearing more protection. This is the main reason why people are against protection because they are afraid that it will lead to more and more injuries and then require more and more protection. I do think this Gladiator Effect is true though, I've seen it firsthand. People tend to be more aggressive to players wearing helmets on the field. They throw harder checks and sometimes even hit them in the head. I think this is wrong of course, the girls wearing the helmets are subject to the same rules as the girls wearing goggles and the girls wearing the helmets are most likely girls that have been concussed and want to prevent it from happening again.
