The Holiday's
Why Fall and Winter are the Best for Holidays
There's something about the cold months of the year that brings people together. I enjoy the colder months, not because they are cold but because they are filled with holidays that bring family together and where memories are created. I like to say that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because of all the food. But, the best part of Thanksgiving is being able to sit around the dinner table for hours and just listen to everyone talking and making jokes. My family also brings over close friends or people who don't have a family to eat with. I really enjoy listening to others' stories and then on top of that eating my sister's cooking. She loves to go all out on Thanksgiving and cooks some of the best food. I also just like having the house feel warm with all the people there and the collective environment of all of us coming together to cook and feed everyone who's visiting.
Christmas is also super fun. I love the music, the lights, and the vibes. It's so fun to see all the fun lights hung around the neighborhoods and the big Christmas tree at Millennium Park. I feel like even in the coldest month I can still feel the warm love from my family during this month. Everyone is thinking about others and trying their best to get the best gift for their loved one. I especially love Christmas morning when I get to wake up and sit with my family as everyone opens their long-awaited gifts. The night before is filled with most likely, Chinese food and church. I also like this part of the night because we can celebrate even more on Christmas Eve and just be with family.
Lastly, New Year's is fun because I get to spend it with my family. I go home and celebrate the new year with them. Even though my dad goes to sleep early it's fun to just sit with my mom and count down together. Then, right after wishing each other a happy new year, I get to say "Happy Birthday" to my mom which I think is really fun and special that we can celebrate her simultaneously with the new year.
